The first step in this process is imagining in your mind what you want in terms of setting, overall feeling, price and where you will hang the portrait. I will assist you on a personal basis either in person or via telephone whichever is more practical.

Once you have an idea of what you want the theme to be we will need to set up a photographic/sketch session. A full understanding of the subject and background is necessary. Generally a portrait will have a simple background to keep the emphasis on the subject, although more extensive settings can give the painting a special uniqueness. I can work directly from existing photographs if a current photo session is not possible. This research phase is the most important as this is the foundation from which your painting will be created.

This is the time for a free flow of thoughts as to what direction you want me to go with your painting. Discussion is essential and if you have a particular feeling that you want the end product to convey please let me know-perhaps there is a certain time of day, an era of the past, or a painting of mine that you would like for me to keep in mind. Your input will help to create a painting that will bring you a lifetime of enjoyment.

Now that I know what you want in the painting I can give you my recommendations for a final concept and price. This is the point where we agree on the details of the project and I continue...

I will then allign the creation of your painting with my schedule and give you start and finish dates. These can vary due to current projects and the amount of work involved in your painting. Exact dates can be set but remember that this is an original work of art.

During the final phase of painting I will seek your approval to continue and ask if any changes need to be made. This will be carried out either in person, photographically, or high resolution e-mail.

Upon approval, the final payment is due and arrangements will be started to deliver the painting to you.

Framing of the painting is not included in the price, however I will be happy to give you recommendations or have the painting framed in a style you choose.

Oil Portrait Fees
I paint my subjects with the intention of creating as near a lifelike rendition as possible. My goal is to convey the power and beauty of the being I am painting. When I am finished you will have a piece of art that I feel will hang proudly among the most refined artwork in the world from any era. This takes time and patience both on my part and the collector's.

Only the finest materials available in the world are used to ensure that your painting will last-Old Holland lightfast paints and Belgian Linen are a combination that has been proven to endure for hundreds of years.

Price Estimates for an oil on linen portrait of a single person are as follows.
